Meet The Grocery Girls! If you are part of the local knitting community, you likely already know and love Tracie and Jodi. These Edmonton-based sisters have been chatting about their love of shopping local, community, and knitting for the last ten years on YouTube. You may wonder why the name Grocery Girls Knit? Well Tracie and Jodi grew up with a family owned grocery store right here in Edmonton! The iconic Andy's IGA in Valleyview, Edmonton! Not only are they amazing supporters of local family businesses, they had one that was a staple in our community since 1960!
Known for their off-the-cuff live stream videos every two weeks, tuning in is always an adventure—you just have to hang on! As they say, “You never know what the unfiltered conversation will bring.”
This holiday season, the Grocery Girls are sharing their festive vibes, favourite traditions, and why the perfect pair of PJs is at the top of their list.
Holiday Vibe Check ❄️
For Tracie and Jodi, the holidays are all about delicious treats and settling in. Jodi is famous for her world-famous nuts & bolts, while Tracie whips up bags of Almond Roca (a huge shoutout to the Best of Bridge recipe!).
But it’s not just about the snacks. “We both look forward to decorating the house, slowing down, and having movie nights,” they share. And naturally, those movie nights wouldn’t be complete “with our latest knitting project of course.”
When it comes to gifting, they keep it cozy. “Our favourite gift to get and give is always a new pair of pj's!” We can attest to this, Tracie and Jodi have been picking out Christmas pajamas with us for as long as we can remember!
Favourite Holiday Tradition 🥟
Tracie’s absolute favourite tradition brings everyone together: the big family Christmas meal. “It's a group of 20 or so with tons of Ukrainian dishes and seeing family and special friends all together,” Tracie says.The best part? The celebration doesn't end when the meal is over. “Everyone leaves with leftovers for the next day so we can stay in our pj's and not have to cook.”
