The Full Story

A weighted, microwavable heat wrap with lavender aromatherapy, made to rest across your lower back, lap or shoulders. At 19″ × 15″ and 4.35 lbs, it's the heavy one in the Warm Buddy range. The milled-rice fill carries a blend of lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, cloves and rosemary, so you get moist heat, scent and a steady hug-like weight in one piece. Warm it in the microwave, settle it where it hurts or where you'd like to feel calmer, and give it half an hour. It also takes the chill off a cold bed before you climb in. Washable cover, made in Canada.

Back pain · Winding down · Warm beds

Moist Heat, Microwave Ready: A milled-rice fill that warms in the microwave and chills in the freezer.

Lavender Aromatherapy: Lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, cloves and rosemary are built into the fill.

Weighted and Washable: 4.35 lbs of steady weight under an ultra-soft cover that comes off for washing.

How to Use:

  • Warm: fold twice (lengthwise, then widthwise) and microwave per the label, in the centre of the oven and not touching the sides. Use 30-second bursts if unsure.
  • Cool: place in a plastic bag and freeze for 1 to 4 hours.
  • Care: remove the cover and machine wash on gentle. Never wash the inner pack.

Good to Know

How do I heat it?
Fold it twice, put it in the middle of the microwave so it doesn't touch the walls, and heat in 30-second bursts until it's comfortably warm. Follow the instructions sewn onto the wrap, since every microwave runs differently. Stay nearby while it heats, and let it cool a few minutes if it feels hot in one spot.

Why is it so heavy?
The 4.35 lbs is the point. The weight gives steady, even pressure, a bit like a hug, and many people find that calming at the end of the day.

What's it good for?
Warm Buddy makes its heat wraps for sore muscles, stiff joints and back pain, and says they can help with arthritis, fibromyalgia and tension headaches. Chilled in the freezer, it's a cold pack for swelling and bruises.

How long does the heat last?
Warm Buddy wraps hold their heat for 30 to 60 minutes, and the bigger ones stay warm longer.

Can I wash it?
The cover, yes. Take it off and machine wash it on gentle. The inner pack stays dry.

Anything I should know first?
A new pack can give off a little moisture when you heat it. Warming it three or four times, letting it cool in between, helps. Don't use heat on anyone who can't feel it properly or can't look after themselves, and don't overheat it.

Good gift?
For the desk worker, the bad-back sufferer or anyone who runs cold at night, yes. It's useful the first evening it's opened.
