The Full Story
A little spritz of calm at the end of the day. Charleston & Harlow MAGIC Magnesium Spray is topical magnesium chloride in a fine mist, and the Lavender version is lightly scented with lavender hydrosol and natural hibiscus petals. Their tagline says it best: a better night's sleep is only a few sprays away. Spray it on your legs, shoulders or back after a long day, rub it in, and let the evening slow down. Light and fast-absorbing, with no sticky residue and no heavy perfume. The colour comes from real hibiscus petals, so it may vary a little from batch to batch, and that's part of the charm. Handmade in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and proudly made in Canada.
Bedtime ritual · Muscle comfort · Gentle lavender
About Charleston & Harlow
Charleston & Harlow is a luxury candle, bath and body company in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. MAGIC, their topical magnesium spray, is handmade in their downtown studio in three scents: Lavender, Pink Grapefruit and Unscented.
What the Maker Says
Charleston & Harlow notes that most people are magnesium deficient and that every cell in the body needs magnesium. It's essential for bone, tooth, muscle and joint health as well as for optimal sleep and stress reduction. Many people have difficulty absorbing magnesium internally and find topical magnesium a more effective method.
The maker suggests using the spray on the chest for headaches, anxiety, depression and sleeplessness; on the abdomen for stomach issues and cramps; and directly on aches and pains throughout the body. Most people, they say, feel relief within 5 to 10 minutes.

Good to Know
What does it smell like?
Very light. It naturally smells a little like the ocean from the magnesium chloride, and the lavender and hibiscus soften that. Some people say they can't smell it at all. For a brighter scent try the Pink Grapefruit, or choose the Unscented.
Why does my skin tingle or itch?
That's normal, says the maker: it's caused by the magnesium being absorbed into the skin. Some people don't notice it at all. It usually fades within 10 to 15 minutes and improves the more you use the spray. If it bothers you, wait 15 to 20 minutes after spraying and wash the area with mild soap and water, which prevents the itch altogether.
When will I feel an improvement?
Most people feel relief within 5 to 10 minutes. If you don't, the maker suggests increasing the number of sprays until you find the right amount for you.
Why is the colour different from my last bottle?
The hibiscus petals are dried and vary from batch to batch, so the colour can change. It doesn't affect how the spray works, and it hasn't gone bad. Small particles that make it past the strainer can bind into a slight residue in the bottom of the bottle, which is also normal.
Is it safe for children or during pregnancy?
Typically yes to both, says Charleston & Harlow, but they recommend consulting a doctor or doing your own research to decide what you're comfortable with.
Good gift?
A lovely small gift for a friend who could use an evening to herself. It's pretty, practical and easy to tuck into a stocking, a hostess gift or a self-care basket.
